A MAN and woman have been charged over two robberies in Bromsgrove. The 27-year-old man and 37-year-old woman, both from Bromsgrove, were arrested in Llanelli, Dyfed Powys, on Saturday, January 12. They appeared before Redditch magistrates on Monday, January 14, each charged with two charges of robbery at the Local, in Birmingham Road, on Christmas Eve and at the One Stop Shop, in Woodrow Lane, Catshill, on December 28. The man faced a further separate charge of burglary. Both were remanded in custody.  more...

Skip fire

BROMSGROVE firefighters were called out to deal with a skip fire at the Silver Birches business park on Wednesday, January 30. Firefighters were called to the Aston Road business park at 1pm. They used one hose reel to extinguish the fire. No one was injured during the incident.   more...

The Healthcare Commission (HCC) gave Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust a rating of better performing' (the second highest rating) for its maternity services in a nationwide survey published last week. The survey included feedback from local women on the quality of their care before, during and after birth. Elaine Newell, the trust's head of midwifery, said: "This is a great vote of confidence in the staff who work in our hospitals and in the community."  more...
