Geoffrey Kirby, aged 65, of Austin Road, Bromsgrove, pleaded guilty, at Redditch magistrates court, to a charge of dishonestly failing to give prompt notification of a change in his circumstances, namely that he had a non-dependant living at his property.This resulted in an overpayment of housing and council tax benefit totalling £4,938.26 covering the period June 5, 2005, to November 12, 2007.Redditch magistrates sentenced Kirby to a 12 month supervised community order and awarded £100 costs to Bromsgrove District Council.
