Probation hearing

A SPA man, who failed to attend an appointment with the probation service, has appeared in court. Andrew Lea, of Impney Way, Droitwich Spa, had previously been sentenced to five months in prison suspended for 12 months for driving with excess alcohol. He was told to attend meetings with probation officers, undertake alcohol treatment and take part in a driving programme. However, Richard Schwab, prosecuting for the probation service, said Lea, aged 44, had failed to attend an appointment on August 8.He had already been warned for not attending a previous appointment and had completed only five out of 14 driver programme sessions. Rob Macrory, defending, said it was Lea's first breach and he had tried to tell probation staff that he could not attend some of the meetings. Magistrates ordered him to do four additional activity requirement sessions, as well as the existing order.  more...
