Staff are planning to open its newly-polished doors to the public on Wednesday, October 10. The former Hogs Head, in High Street, is part of a national chain and will open with a new design including a heated outdoor beer garden. Volunteers needed

A COMMUNITY support group is looking for volunteers to help cover its extended opening hours. Bromsgrove Youth Homelessness Forum's basement project recently received a grant from the Big Lottery Fund, which has enabled it to open more often. The project is now looking to recruit interested volunteers, and is holding a coffee morning at the Basement Project, based at the Baptist Church, in New Road, from 10am to 12pm, today (Wednesday). New parish plan

A NEW parish plan was launched with the help of Bromsgrove MP Julie Kirkbride last Saturday. The Lickey and Blackwell parish plan steering group officially unveiled its new plan at a big launch tea party at Hunter's Hill Technology College, in Spirehouse Lane, Blackwell. The plan, which makes 46 recommendations for action ranging from answers to immediate problems to suggested improvements for 20 years in the future, was officially accepted by Ms Kirkbride and Lickey and Blackwell parish councillor Keith Woolford.   more...

Attempted robbery

A SEVENTEEN-year-old put up a brave fight when he was the victim of an attempted daylight robbery by two men as he walked in a Bromsgrove alleyway. The unnamed victim was approached by the men, one of whom asked him to hand over his mobile phone. He refused and put the phone in his pocket. The man then demanded he hand the phone over and pushed him against a fence. The victim punched the offender in the face and both men ran off empty handed. The victim was shaken, but uninjured. The incident happened at 9am last Friday in an alley between School Road and Birmingham Road.One offender is a light skinned black man, 6ft 2in tall, aged about 25. He wore a black baseball cap, blue hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.His accomplice is white 6ft 1in tall and aged about 25.  more...
