BROMSGROVE appeared to have escaped lightly from the Asian flu epidemic, which was sweeping the country. However, many schools reported large numbers of pupils were absent suffering from autumn colds. At Catshill's three schools, 87 were absent from a total of 936 pupils, Stourbridge Road had 63 away from a total of 553 and Watt Close Secondary Modern also had depleted class sizes.  more...
