A CATSHILL school has scooped lottery cash to provide out of hours sporting activities. Chadsgrove School, in Meadow Road, has been awarded £189,900 by the Big Lottery Fund. It is one of five school partnerships to get the cash. The projects will target young people that need extra encouragement to participate in sports, including those with special needs. The funding comes from the Big Lottery Fund's £74.2million Out of School Hours Learning: School Sports Co-ordinators programme which helps to establish partnerships to offer extra curriculum sport and physical activities to improve health, motivate, build self-esteem and increase social skills of young people. more...

POLICE are warning motorists not to leave their items unattended after a car was broken into and a sat-nav was stolen on Sunday, July 29. The vehicle was broken into between 2 and 3pm, causing around £50 damage. A Navman sat-nav system, valued at £150, and a pair of sunglasses, worth £15, were taken during the theft at the Warren Lane car park, Lickey. A police spokesman said: "We advise residents not to leave items unattended in cars particularly at this beauty spot, which has frequently been hit by thieves in the past." TWO Rednal residents have been prosecuted and will be part of a name and shame campaign being run by Central Trains this August. Martin Beattie, aged 28, of Farmdale Grove, was fined £212 and Matt Quarterman, 22, of Rednal Mill Drive, was fined £182 after failing to pay or produce a valid ticket when requested.
