Indecent assault

A 43-year-old man, convicted of sexually abusing a five-year-old girl ten years ago, has been jailed for ten years at Worcester Crown Court. Dean Wood, of Humphrey Avenue, Charford, was found guilty of indecent assault and rape. Rhona Campbell, defending, said there had been three isolated incidents, which had not been planned, but were opportunistic. There was no attempt at bribery and no physical force or threats had been used. Although the girl had watched a pornographic video with Wood, there was no evidence of grooming. Judge Alistair McCreath spoke of the harm the abuse had done to the child. "I know from her statement the profound effect it has had upon her," he said.  more...
