Youngsters celebrate year of achievements

PUPILS at a Worcester school have picked up a vast array of awards to mark their achievements over the past year.

More than 100 pupils at Nunnery Wood High school received prizes for excellence within subjects and for consistent effort throughout the year at the annual awards evenings.

Headteacher Alun Williams said: "These evenings are two high points of the year that we really look forward to.

"Our pupils have achieved marvellous things this year and it is lovely to recognise and reward their achievements. We had to move to two evenings last year because we simply could not fit all of the students and their parents into one evening.

"Now two evenings are looking cramped - we may well have to consider more of these excellent events."

Pupils in years 7, 8, 9 and 10 were recognised in a host of subjects, including art, citizenship and geography. Mr Williams said: "It is a credit to staff and students that the volume of prizes being handed out is so high. I am extremely proud and delighted."

The school is a specialist science college and was recently awarded its first Eco School Green Flag Award.
