A GROUP dealing with parish communications in Stoke has become a committee. Stoke Parish Council's parish communications working group, which deals with its website and newsletter, put forward a recommendation to change into a committee. The group's elected chairman, Councillor Dean Smith, said it had to work to deadline and if it had to come back to the main parish council group to get authority then it could take time to get things done. Clerk Patrick Calloway said there were cost implications with the change as a committee needed to have a clerk present and he would have to be paid and the meeting had to be publicised and open to members of the public. He added that the group also needed to set up guidelines. It was proposed and seconded for the working group to become a committee.  more...
