Age Concern funding

FUNDING is needed to keep a mobile day centre on the road. Age Concern runs the service in Longdon, Alfrick and Strensham every fortnight. A mini-bus collects people from their homes and takes them to a village hall, where they can enjoy tea, coffee, puzzles and a cooked lunch before being taken home. Clients pay for the meal and refreshments themselves but transport costs and village hall fees are paid by the charity. Lottery funding for the scheme finishes at the end of August and organisers fear the service will have to cease if further money cannot be found. Youth sprayed in eyes

A TEENAGE boy was taken to hospital after being sprayed in the eyes on Geraldine Road shortly before 3.30pm on Thursday, July 5. Police spokesman Richard Bull said the teenager was taken by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital. He was released later that evening. Police are investigating the incident but do not yet know what the spray was. Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident on 08457 444888, quoting 456S/050707.  more...
