PARISH COUNCIL: The June meeting was chaired by Cllr Tony Wilkins. Mr Peter Tuckwell showed councillors a draft welcome leaflet which he had produced for consideration. It was agreed it was not necessary for this to be a glossy publication as only a small number would be required each year and it would require regular updating. Cllr Rob Hawkins and Mrs Sheila Ribbans agreed to discuss the draft and would liaise with Mr Tuckwell. more...
FIRST SCHOOL: The leavers' service held in the school hall on Sunday morning was well attended by parents, members of St James' congregation, school governors and other well wishers. Music was provided by the Joyful Noisemakers. The service was taken by the rector who spoke to the children about their time and experiences at Harvington school, memories of which he hoped would never be forgotten. Prayers were led by some of the leavers, after which, in keeping with tradition, each child received the gift of a Bible from the church. As the final act the children sang Drop in the Ocean, a song which is rapidly becoming their school song. more...

During the May Bank Holiday Week, the club held a meet at Sligachan on the Isle of Skye in Scotland and several of the Skye Cuillins were ascended.
