THE countdown to Saturday's Bewdley Carnival has begun with organisers promising a packed day of entertainment for all the family.
Live music will be in full swing ahead of the big day in Jubilee Gardens from 7.30pm tomorrow and a firework display will be set off at around 10.15pm.
Committee member of 22 years, Angela Pitt, said preparations were going well for Saturday, adding: "We've got a star attraction this year, which is Jez Avery and he is a stunt rider. Jez has been on TV a couple of times and he's going to jump over cars."
The parade, led by this year's princesses, six-year-old Paige Cooper and Sophie Booth, 7, Megan Oliver, 6 and Ellie Turvey, 7 will leave Hales Park at 1pm .
It will make its way through the town, across Bewdley Bridge, to the carnival field by Bewdley Leisure Centre where there will be displays by the K9 dog agility group, Zeppo the clown and performances from Severnside School of Dance, as well as stalls and competitions.
Mrs Pitt said: "Come along and join the fun. It's a mad day from start to finish. The committee starts at around seven o'clock in the morning and we are still going at it at 7 o'clock at night. It is for people of Bewdley and visitors and we just hope they enjoy themselves."
Festivities kicked off on Tuesday with a pet show at St George's Hall and a general knowledge quiz at Bewdley Rowing Club will take place tonight, while newly-appointed town mayor, Anne Mace is set to judge the decorated shop window competition tomorrow To hear an interview with Angela Pitt log on to www.kidderminstershuttle.co.uk/news/ksnewspodcast/ If you have taken any photos of this year's Bewdley Carnival, the Shuttle/Times & News would like to hear from you.
