THE chairman of a local parish council is having her allowance increased. At Stoke Parish Council, clerk Patrick Calloway said Councillor Thelma Roll had a personal allowance of £400 for the office of chairman. "This is for her expenses and any functions she goes to and out of this she puts on wine and a buffet at Christmas," he said. It was decided to increase the amount in line with inflation.  more...

HOW to be healthy was the name of the game for children at a Worcester school. Pupils, including Declan Knox and Anisa Saddique, above, at Nunnery Wood Primary School in Prestwich Avenue, took part in a week of activities to learn how to live a healthier life. They got the chance to take part in cookery classes, learn how to care for their teeth, plus try out yoga and other fitness classes.
