FIREFIGHTERS were called out to deal with a smoking manhole cover in Richmond Road, Rubery, at 8.36am last Thursday. The underground electrics had developed a fault, causing smoke to rise out of the manhole cover. Firefighters helped secure the area and electrical company E.on was able to switch the electrical current off, stopping the smoke.  more...

Fun for all

FUN for all the family is on the cards for townsfolk and visitors to Bromsgrove this weekend. The town's carnival committee is staging a whole host of activities and entertainment at Sanders Park from quad biking and rock climbing to fortune telling and craft stalls. There will also be a pig roast, Wilson's fair and music supplied by Dan Trigger. Organiser Gary Walmsley said: "We are hoping that as many people as possible will come along to have a great time and to raise money for local charities." The fun starts at 9am on Saturday and the events will run until 9.30pm. The fun will start all over again on Sunday when it will run from 9am to 4pm.  more...
