WHAT A TOURIST ATTRACTION!!!!

Year 5 at St Johns visited Weston-Super-Mare on Tuesday 19th June, we all had a great time. One of the main vocal points of Weston is the amazing Grand Pier, here are a few facts about it: It opened in 1904. It took 4000 tons of steel and no less than 35,000 screws to build (in the days that there were no electric screwdrivers) The steel and screws were carried to the site by horse and cart. Work started in 1903 and was completed on the 12th June 1904, that means it took just over 9 months to build, amazing in those days !!   more...
