MALVERN College hosted ten Prep Schools for an Eight8 cricket competition on Sunday.
The teams were divided into two groups, the winners of one group playing the runners-up of the other in the semi-finals. A plate competition ran alongside.
In the final, Elstree School from Reading defeated St John's from Chepstow, the highlight being a remarkable innings by Matthew Lavoirpierre, who scored 78no from eight overs including seven consecutive 6s. St John's capitulated well short of the imposing total.
The Tolchard Trophy was awarded to the Elstree captain by Tim Roberts, the ex-Northants player, currently the cricket coach at Malvern.
In the plate competition, Packwood Haugh beat Abberley Hall.
The best bowling award went to Sam Cotter of Birchfield School.
