SIR - I am writing with reference to the photo of team players' (Worcester News, September 14). The team was called Droitwich Sports, and this I feel was taken in the 1950s. The one cup could have been the Infirmary Cup or perhaps a League Cup. All players and supporters were Droitwich people as far as I remember. The man on the extreme right of the top back row was Mr Nunney, and the lad in front below was Arnold Nunney.  more...

SIR - I would like to take issue from a paragraph in the letter get on your bike instead of driving' (October 2) which read: "However old or young or fit or unfit you are there should be no excuses to getting on your bike". I would love to cycle but unfortunately I had a hip replacement in 1994 which went wrong. THIS WEEK IN 1957: STRONG feeling has been aroused by the proposal that, under the future organisation of the Army, all regiments in a brigade shall wear the same cap badge. It will mean that the Worcestershire Regiment will lose its distinctive badge - the outward sign of a regiment's history and tradition. All the regiments in the brigade, of which the Worcestershire Regiment will be one, will wear a newly-designed cap badge. Alderman R.R. Adam, Chairman of Worcestershire County Council, has written to the Rt. Hon J.H.M. Hare, the Secretary of State for War, asking the Minister if he would be prepared to advise the Government to stay its hand until it learns the full extent of public feeling on the issue.  more...
