All systems go

From the Bromsgrove Advertiser, first published Friday 5th Jan 2007.

SIXTY former employees at the Longbridge car plant have swapped car radiators for those used in central heating systems.

A new domestic gas central heating company, staffed by former MG Rover employees, has been launched and will cover Bromsgrove and a wide area of the midlands.

The Midweb Heating company will provide replacement boilers and full gas central heating, inclusive of radiators and tanks, boiler maintenance, breakdowns and insurance.

The staff who found themselves out of work and facing unfulfilling or unsuitable jobs, were offered a chance by Midweb directors Clive Denham and Christa Padmore, to join a new company as Corgi registered gas engineers, ultimately helping to bring business back to the Midlands for Midlands people.

Alan Mullins, an ex-manager at the Longbridge plant said: "We have been waiting for this day to arrive and are keen to get the teams out on the road. With our full range of services and products, we offer Midland households a competitive and professional alternative that supports families and workers in the region." Kidderminster-based Midweb Heating has secured a number of strategic partners to position themselves as competitors in the market. The firm can be contacted on 0845 602 0687.
