From the Kidderminster Shuttle, first published Monday 29th Jan 2007.
SOMETHING is rotten in the state of Nottingham and the unlikely crew of an extravagantly dressed nurse, a gormless handyman, a scatty groom and her toothy charge Dobbin are on the case.
Two babes, monosyllabic Wayne and shopaholic Coleen, are missing, presumed murdered, by two incompetent robbers employed by the Sheriff and his scheming sister Lucretia.
Cue cunning escape plots and the dishing out of some rough justice in the form of an I'm A Celebrity style trial involving dead worms.
The Monday Night Group's tried and trusted panto formula, which has worked wonders for more than 40 years and raised almost £200,000 for charity, delighted a packed Sunday afternoon crowd of all ages.
The gags came thick and fast, the costumes were stunning and producer/director Alan Green drew strong performances from the enthusiastic cast.
Colin Hughes's gloriously over the top Nurse Ophelia Goodbody was greeted with oohs' and aahs' every time he/she took to the stage in a new creation. The Sixties style mini dress and boots inparticular went down a storm with the two elderly ladies behind me.
Richard Taylor as the hapless, but kind-hearted, Benny, and Amanda D'Angelo's Primrose the groom were both excellent and Joss Stone lookalike Rachel Bloomer was a charming Maid Marion.
Tickets are still available for this week's performances.
