100 Years Ago, January 19, 1907

YOUNGSTERS from Tardebigge day and Sunday schools were the guests of Lady Plymouth at Hewell Grange for their annual New Year treat. Accompanied by the staff, they marched from the school to the mansion where hob-nailed boots were exchanged for slippers to save the wooden floors from damage. The children were ushered into the dining room where they enjoyed a splendid tea and later assembled in the great hall where the tables were laden with gifts for all. After three rousing cheers for her ladyship, each child was given sweets and oranges to take home with them.  more...

RASHWOOD school was the most dangerous in the county on account of its location. That was the view of the county council's road safety committee, which said it was situated on a derestricted fast stretch of road and below the crest of a hill.
