Physics star Helen shines

A TALENTED Alice Ottley student has impressed examiners, scoring the highest in the summer's physics A-level exam.

Helen Boffey, from Ombersley, was named as one of the top 10 who achieved the highest overall marks in physics out of 2,163 entries.

The 18-year-old got As in all of her four A-level exams and a distinction in the Chemistry Advanced Extension Award - an advanced paper students can sit in any subject they are taking at A-level. Her results have won her a place at St Edmund Hall in Oxford to read materials science. A school spokesman said: "An AO student has again yet proved that physics is not a no-go area for girls."
