Might of the BBC `satire' machine

From the archive, first published Friday 3rd Mar 2006.

SIR - Peter Luff may be wise to back-track on his criticisms on the BBC (over Dick and Dom In Da Bungalow) from a personal and professional point of view. After all, we've seen several politicians destroyed by the BBC "satire" machine.

But he was right to challenge the cultural vandalism of this ghastly domineering monolith. Mr Luff may be underestimating the growing resentment in Britain toward an organisation that grovels to American culture and produces the most appalling drivel which seems to be designed to rob young people of their capacity to express themselves clearly or to think for themselves.

If we had wanted that for our £3bn a year `telly tax' we could have just bought in rubbish from America - like Channel 4 does!

JIM EVANS,

Worcester.
