Centre springs to it with bumper pansy festival

ONE of the biggest displays of flowers ever seen in the Midlands is expected to draw the crowds from across the country.Claire Darby of Webbs' garden centre, Wychbold, prepares for the pansy festival. Webbs' of Wychbold garden centre, near Droitwich Spa, will host the event from today until Sunday, March 26. Thousands of plants covering more than 500 varieties of pansies and violas will create a riot of colour in a massive display. New varieties will line up alongside old favourites of the best selling plants in the UK. Webbs' is one of only a handful of such festivals being held in the country and the only one in the Midlands. The free five-day festival will be under cover and give visitors the chance to view and buy their favourite plants from the thousands on show. Sally Davies, Webbs' garden plants manager, said: "It will be a truly breathtaking sight with thousands of top class blooms on show."   more...

Having walked around Bromsgrove town centre on Saturday, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the present council and sitting MP on turning Bromsgrove from a desirable place to live to a town that is bordering on a DUMP! The roads are a disgrace, with most pavements in a dangerous condition. There is rubbish and graffiti everywhere, and is it too much to ask that when work is undertaken that the sites are tidied and left as the workmen found them? Our MP is an expert at getting her picture in local publications, but she has done very little for the people of Bromsgrove. To the people of Bromsgrove I say `I suppose we get what we deserve'.   more...
