ALCESTER'S mayor wants help to find the town's unsung heroes.

Councillor Jim Kenyon is looking for nominations to find people who have made a difference to the town and wants Chronicle readers to help him in his search.

Mr Kenyon said: "I think there is a big community spirit in Alcester and there are lots of people who do a lot of work for the town by volunteering or helping where needed who need to be recognised.

"We want people to volunteer for the person they think has worked hard and shown great community spirit."

The winner of the town's first civic award will receive a crystal trophy at an award ceremony on the day of the mayoral changeover on May 9.

Nominations should be submitted in writing with contact details and reasons for being nominated by Friday, April 7.

Send entries to Derrick Ward, Globe House, Priory Road, Alcester.
