The disgraceful closure

From the archive, first published Thursday 16th Mar 2006.

LIKE many others, I am very concerned to think of the closure of Somerfield. The store has a very high standard in every way, with excellent staff who are apparently to be thrown out of work.

Many of the ladies have served us so well for so many years, and we are shocked that they are being so shoddily treated.

Many of them are like old friends.

I am not related to any of the staff, so have no personal axe to grind, but I am a very concerned customer.

The car park is very convenient - clean, and tidy (which KwikSave is often not).

Large delivery trucks often block part of the area and are causing traffic to flow the wrong way. Some areas of it are tatty!

Faithful long-serving staff deserve much better treatment.

It is disgraceful.
