COURT charges are set to rise after a 13-year stalemate, Redditch Council has announced. Costs for the issue of a Liability Order, which are court fees, have been increased from £30 to £75. The court charge is set to recover the actual costs incurred by the council and is not a penalty charge. It is based on the cost of recovery of unpaid Council Tax.
It is split between two stages of recovery action - the issue of a summons and the issue of a Liability Order, so debtors paying on the summons stage are only liable to the first stage charge of £50.
