Disabled people are penalised

From the archive, first published Tuesday 14th Mar 2006.

SIR - I felt I had to reply to Bryan Bannister's letter (Monday, February 27). I have a blue badge for my car as I have arthritis and am unable to walk far with shopping bags. The luxury of being able to drive along and park on The Shambles or Broad Street was wonderful.

Since the new regulations, my shopping trips have been curtailed. It is difficult to park in the disabled bays provided. They are nearly always full, quite often with non-disabled drivers or delivery vehicles.

I was always considerate to the pedestrians on these streets and parked with consideration. Is it not possible for disabled drivers to be allowed on these streets on a Sunday?

MRS PAT LEWIS,

Worcester.
