What a pathetic state of affairs

From the archive, first published Tuesday 14th Mar 2006.

SIR - If the article headed `guilty plea' in the Worcester News, which told of the theft of a mountain bike from an off-duty police officer on his way home is anything to go by, there is not much point in calling the police for assistance.

They don't seem to be able to look after themselves, let alone the public. What a pathetic state of affairs - perhaps the officer concerned thought that if he put up some resistance he might infringe the thief's human rights.

M C RANDALL,

Kempsey.
