Early birds get in networking over breakfast

From the archive, first published Monday 13th Mar 2006.

THEY say the early bird catches the worm and this is certainly proving true for businessmen and women who attend the business breakfasts organised by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce.

Networking has always been a key benefit of the chamber, with most members citing it as one of the main reasons for joining.

In response to members' requests, the chamber has launched an extensive spring/summer programme of business breakfasts, which is the preferred time for networking for busy business professionals.

Already they are proving very popular, with dozens of people turning out for a buffet breakfast and a chance to mingle with their peers, make contacts and form relationships.

In a departure from previous chamber practice, the business breakfasts are being held in the same location each month, something members asked for and which the chamber is trialing.

"Holding the business breakfasts at the same location each month seems to be working really well," said Lisa Tubb, the chamber's membership and business development manager.

"We found accessible, well-known locations to start with and people get to know the route, the parking, the facilities and so on. We have had a lot of good feedback on our chosen locations.

"We also find, from our experience, that business men and women like the breakfast format as it enables them to do some networking and still get to the office in time to do their day's work."

In south Worcestershire, the business breakfasts, which run from 7.45am to 9.30am, are being held at Malvern Theatres, Malvern, on Thursday, April 13, Thursday, May 11 and Thursday, June 8

The breakfasts cost £12.50 + vat for chamber members and £15 + vat for non members. For more information or to book a place phone the membership team on 0845 6411641 or e-mail: enquiries@hwchamber.co.uk
