SIR - On Wednesday, March 1, I attended a production of Into The Wood at Christopher Whitehead Language College as a guest of one of their students, Brynley Jones. The show brought to the stage children's characters such as Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella and combined them all into a new story.
I must say that I have visited many schools over the years to see shows, performances, musicals, and so on, but this production from Christopher Whitehead Language College students was among the best I have ever seen.
The students were responsible for the total package - front-of-house reception, choreography, lighting, sound and most importantly, they were the performers. So the total show was put on by the students themselves. All members of the cast were wonderful and the way they combined the characters to give this performance was inspirational. While we hear of problems with building structures, particularly at this location, it is refreshing to see that the students continue to achieve such high standards of attainment.
This was an amazing production and I shall remember it as one of best shows I have ever had the privilege of attending.
