A DECADE OF KODYS

Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section

Wolverley Memorial Hall

THE future of amateur operatics in Kidderminster looks safe in the hands of these talented youngsters.

They looked back at productions over the 10 years since they formed, having developed into a group able to provide quality entertainment.

Under Sue Preece's musical direction, we were treated to solos and ensemble items, too numerous to list. I particularly enjoyed Moms and Dads and Little Shop of Horrors.

There were also contributions from former members, including budding opera singer Russell Painter whose version of Music of the Night, left me tingling, and he led the chorus in Do You Hear the People Sing in a selection from Les Miserables.

David Morgan, who accompanied the programme on keyboard, joined Painter in a duet from Godspell, ending at breakneck speed.

Most 14-year-olds would be partying on their birthdays, but Emily Preece celebrated her big day singing to us.

The enthusiasm of the singers was infectious, and I wish I could mention everyone. I enjoyed the concert from start to finish. VJS
