Labour is defying the people's will

From the archive, first published Tuesday 21st Feb 2006.

SIR - Yet again, this Government shows it is not interested in local feelings. In spite of nearly unanimous local opposition, New Labour is determined to roll up the West Mercia Police into a vast conglomerate of a pan Midlands force based in Birmingham.

It is part and parcel of New Labour's plan to structure the country into the regions defined by the EU. UKIP opposes this regionalisation on principle. It is the party that believes in local democracy and control of our country by its citizens.
