THE first half of our February meeting was devoted to the business of the AGM.
The minutes of the previous AGM were approved and the officers presented their reports.
An interesting programme of meetings and exhibitions is planned and we look forward to another successful year. Barbara Winfield was re-elected as chair and apart from the replacement of one retired member the committee remained unchanged.
With the business concluded, the second half of the meeting was devoted to discussion of a selection of work brought in by members. This has been a feature of our February meeting for the last few years and gives the members the opportunity to invite comments on their finished paintings and to seek advice where they thought they had a problem with their work-in-progress.
The proceedings were conducted by our president, Colin Hammond, who led the discussion on a variety of paintings in pastel, watercolour and acrylic. All aspects of the paintings were considered, from their composition and colour content to the selection of their mounts and frames.
The format of this session has proved to be popular with the members, providing them with the opportunity to exchange constructive comments and advice on their paintings.
Our next meeting will be at St Luke's Memorial Hall, Evesham Road, Headless Cross on Wednesday, March 1 at 7.30pm.
We have been fortunate in obtaining the services of Charles Evans to give a talk and demonstration on the topic of watercolour landscapes.
Charles is the resident artist for Tyne Tees TV and is widely known for his television demonstrations and for his instructional books and videos. This will be one of the highlights of this year's programme.
Redditch Art Circle is supported by Redditch Council through Redditch Arts Council.
