A STUDLEY society recently celebrated its 100th birthday with a ball at the town hall.
More than 100 members and supporters turned out for Studley Operatic Society's centenary celebrations.
Guests attended an Ascot Ball where an exhibition of the history of the society marked some of its memories and, after a meal, current president Joe Brennan and Trevor Guest, from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association, gave short speeches.
Originally a choral society, the group was formed in 1906 as Studley Amateur Operatic Society and can even claim Lady Throckmorton as a past president and former Prime Minister Sir Anthony Eden as a vice president.
The centenary celebrations also included a presentation of long service awards to 10 members who between them had given a total of 295 years service to the society.
Members are looking forward to performing the centenary show My Fair Lady at Redditch's newly-opened Palace Theatre in May.
