AN Australian artist has donated a book of her work to Malvern Library.
Jocelyn Maughan has made the presentation in memory of Illingworth Varley, the first head of Malvern School of Art.
Between 1915 and 1920, Mr Varley taught art to Ms Maughan's mother.
Last autumn, Ms Maughan visited Malvern in search of places her mother knew.
She was directed to Wilfred Harper, of Shuttle-fast Lane, who is interested in local history and art.
Mr Harper gave her an Illingworth Varley painting and, after returning home, Ms Maughan she sent two copies of her book, one for him and the other for the people of Malvern.
This week Mr Harper handed it over to Keith Barber at Malvern Library.
Ms Maughan's inscription mentions her "grateful recognition" of Mr Varley's teaching of her mother.
"She paints boatbuilders, fishermen and working men, and her pictures are pictures are recognisably in the same genre as Illingworth Varley's," said Mr Harper.
