SIR - I was delighted to see the implementation of the Government's free bus services to pensioners and the disabled, and support the transport sustainability initiatives.
I was therefore surprised at the increase in bus prices for the rest of the community by more than 10 per cent. It appears that green commuters are subsidising the council's scheme - this may well not be the case, but the timing is surely unfortunate. Pricing others off the road and reducing the number of buses can only, over time, reduce the sustainability of the timetable and runs counter to Government aims.
