Chrissies decision lets us all down

SIR - Once again, a story has appeared in the Worcester News regarding the future of Christopher Whitehead (January 25) and once again, the pupils, staff, parents, school governors, and the community of St John's have been let down.

This issue has been going on for so many years with promises being continually made. These range from rebuilding on site, building a new school on Grove Farm (which was always a non-starter), to this new suggestion of building a new school on Earls Court Farm.

Yet nothing has been agreed. Funding cannot be found and the school remains in the same situation as it was five years ago. All this must lead to a feeling of frustration for headteacher Neil Morris and his team as county councillors continue to argue about who is at fault and attempt to blame others for this council's own failings. This situation must not be allowed to continue. For the sake of current and future pupils of the school, I implore Councillor Liz Eyre and Richard Hubbard, the new director of children's services, and all those involved to make a quick and final decision.

This decaying school building must be brought into the 21st Century and Mr Morris and his staff should be allowed the opportunity of continuing to provide an excellent education for the children of this area in an environment with up-to-date facilities which they so richly deserve.
