THE newly-formed John Wood Big Band will be presenting their Strictly Swing concert at Evesham Arts Centre on the weekend of February 18 and 19.
The musical spectacular will include many of the big band hits of yesteryear, including the music of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Harry James and Frank Sinatra.
The band was brought together by musical director John Wood who, through his connections with Bretforton Silver Band, Evesham Operatic and Dramatic Society and the Billy Davis Band, was able to attract 20 top musicians and singers.
"The band originally formed to take part in the popular Bretforton Proms and they received such an astounding response from the audience that they decided to stay together," Mr Wood said.
For this concert the band will be fronted by singers, Abby Brant, Amanda Golding, Dean Bayliss and Bretforton's answer to Frank Sinatra, Chris Dowdeswell. For information or tickets, call 01386 834326.
