100 years ago November 10, 1906 The thirteenth annual chrysanthemum and fruit exhibition in connection with the Pershore and District Horticultural Society was held in the National Schools on Thursday and Friday. Although in point of entries, exhibits and general arrangements, the show more than upheld its high class reputation, we regret that it was practically spoilt socially and financially by the miserable weather which prevailed on the opening day. To Mr A W Smith, who was associated with Mr Basil Harrison as joint secretary of the show, this disappointment is no doubt doubly keen, as for several successive years he has successfully striven to make the show a source of revenue to the Cottage Hospital, which is the one institution above all others to which he has devoted much time and strenuous endeavour.  more...
