Big swith-on lights up so many lives

A TREE of lights is illuminating Pershore after being switched on by the town's mayor on Saturday. The lights on the tree in Broad Street have all been sponsored by members of the public in memory of a departed loved one, and all the money raised will go to Acorns Children's Hospice. It is hoped more than £2,000 will be raised. Mayor of Pershore Val Wood was assisted by the designers of her official Christmas card, six-year-olds Harley Williams and Joe Blaine, for the official switch on. The crowds that turned up to watch the festive event were entertained by carol singers. The Rotary Club of Pershore has worked with the town council to provide a Christmas tree in Pershore since 2000.  more...
