What in fact Compco were doing was to draw to your attention the existence of a very well-received national campaign - Wise up to Fire - that was designed to explain to the public the fire risks now facing our schools and the benefits of sprinklers. It is perhaps a shame that your reporter did not mention the national campaign in the story, nor its supporters which go far beyond the sprinkler industry.  more...

Arrested

TWO men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possessing a firearm and money laundering after a car was stopped by police in the town. A firearm, nearly £5,000 in cash, drug paraphernalia and a balaclava were found in a car stopped in Meadow Road, Droitwich Spa, at 7.15pm last Wednesday. The car was stopped after police used a computerised automatic number-plate recognition system. One of the men remains in custody, while the second was bailed to return to Worcester police station while inquiries into the case continue.  more...
