WILLIAM Talbot, of Marlbrook, was summoned to court for not sending his son to school. Mr F Jeffrey, the school attendance officer, said the boy was 11-years-old and in the fourth standard. During the 13 weeks ending September 24, he made 79 attendances out of a possible 120. Mr Talbot was fined 5s and 5s 6d costs.  more...

THE first ever Worcestershire Young Conservative Political School was held at Perry Hall in Bromsgrove, with over 120 young people from six constituencies attending to hear lectures on the British Commonwealth and Empire, and the Conservative and socialist party policies. John Peel, who fought Meriden in 1955, was introduced and he gave a detailed analysis of the Commonwealth and its problems. After tea Mr Richard Body, MP for Billericay in Essex, spoke on the basic contrasts between the Conservative and Labour parties. Delegates later enjoyed a dance and party at the Crown Hotel, Wychbold.  more...

MEMBERS of Gronau's Bach Choir visited Bromsgrove in one of the largest ever twinning projects between the two towns. Eighty singers and officials, including conductor Herr Klaus Bowering, visited Bromsgrove for four days. Highlight of the tour was a concert given by the choir at St John's. Townsfolk crammed into the church to hear organ music by Bach, Mozart and Faure.  more...

A gruesome title perhaps, but intriguing would be a better word. Bob told of an incident and trial in Bristol that was almost unsolvable so unexplainable were the facts and happenings.
