100 Years Ago October 6, 1906

THE Trinity Wesleyan Church in Lickey End was reopened for public worship after being closed for three months to undergo a complete renovation. Mrs Parsons, of Bromsgrove, officially opened the church door and said she was delighted to open any building to the glory of God. The service was conducted by the Rev G Brown and assisted by the Rev LL Price. The offertory amounted to more than £6, which was donated to the church building fund.  more...

50 Years Ago October 6, 1956

A BROMSGROVE employee of the Austin Works collapsed and died at her desk. Miss Corris Chandler, aged 38, of Old Birmingham Road, Marlbrook, was carried to the works surgery by colleagues, where it was established that she was dead. A coroner decided that no inquest was necessary.  more...

25 Years Ago October 2, 1981

A POPULAR postman retired after 30 years service with the post office in Bromsgrove. George Prosser, of Stratford Road, started delivering letters in 1951 after serving in the RAF. He hoped his retirement would give him time to pursue his hobbies of fishing and chrysanthemum growing. At a farewell presentation Mr Prosser was presented with a certificate and a cassette recorder by the post office and an electric drill by his workmates from the sorting office.  more...
