The money given in the cash collection is to be donated to two charities (one local -FOAG) specialising in helping the desperately poor people in Africa through concentration on the provision of water and goat, the latter having been found to be of particular benefit in the climatic conditions which prevail in that particular area of the continent.   more...

HARVINGTON Church: The Harvest Festival season was celebrated last Sunday at both morning and evening services when the church, beautifully decorated for the occasion with flowers and produce generously donated by members and friends, resounded to the familiar tunes of the harvest hymns. At the morning service, which was very well attended, the music was supplied by The Joyful Noisemakers under the leadership of Keith Davies, and when the enthusiastic action-singing of numerous children (including Guides, Brownies and Rainbows) was added, then a truly joyful noise filled the building. Quantities of best (most favourite) food had been brought as requested and this was taken to the altar to receive a blessing before being shared and eaten in a harvest picnic by all present. The money given in the cash collection is to be donated to two charities (one local -FOAG) specialising in helping the desperately poor people in Africa through concentration on the provision of water and goat, the latter having been found to be of particular benefit in the climatic conditions which prevail in that particular area of the continent.   more...
