Gratitude to all those who gave

SIR - On behalf of the committee and myself, I would like to sincerely thank all those good people who have done so much in support of the Poppy Appeal in collections at shops, offices and schools throughout the city.
We should also not forget the volunteers at CrownGate and the cadets and volunteers who also collected.
The total now stands at £11,500 with more to come in a wonderful contribution to the vital welfare and benevolent work of the Royal British Legion. I would also like to thank the good lady who donated a gift of money delivered to my home with a note saying: "Thanks be to God who gave us victory. May we be held back from giving away our freedom to Europe", a sentiment with which I totally agree.
