31/1/06 - Worcester chase third away win in row

ANDY Preece is poised to tweak his side in Greater Manchester tonight as Worcester City aim for a third consecutive Nationwide North away win (7.45).

Following back-to-back triumphs at Gainsborough and Hinckley, City travel up the M6 to mid-table Stalybridge Celtic with renewed confidence.

But player-manager Preece must contend with bumps and bruises to several of his players, which may force a re-shuffle. Nick Colley (knee), Adam Webster (ankle) and Tom Warmer (foot) are all still carrying slight knocks.

Midfielder Colley did not figure on Saturday in the 1-1 draw against Workington, but the 31-year-old may win a recall if Preece reverts to a two-man frontline.

Preece said: "There are a few players carrying niggles and we just have to see how they feel.

"Nick has had a bit of a problem and Webby is struggling with his ankle, although he's playing thr-ough."

Worcester were forced to settle for a draw with Workington at St George's Lane, but that solitary point pushed the club further away from relegation danger.

Victory in Tameside could see a further climb of three places up the table, although City will re-quire a strong defence to curtail free-scoring Celtic.

Stalybridge have netted 27 goals in 11 home league games this season and thumped Leigh RMI for six before their surprise 2-1 reverse at Worksop three days ago.

Preece added: "We wanted to take three points from Workington, because anything we get at Stalybridge is a bonus."

Covers were placed over the Celtic pitch overnight and there are slight concerns that the game may be called off because of frost.
