Farm stores call

A SCHEME to replace two farm buildings at a village near Droitwich are likely to get the thumbs-up from Wychavon councillors.

Laight Bros want to put up a grain store and a general agricultural storage building at Great Horton Farm, Hampton Lovett, to replace two other structures being removed as part of a barn conversion plan. Wychavon District Council approved the conversion of the traditional existing farm buildings into six residential units in 2003. According to a report to the council's development control committee, the new buildings will be in a very isolated rural position and built into a slope.

"The sinking of the buildings into the slope will significantly reduce the visual impact. The site benefits from existing screening from a series of substantial hedges," the report says. Landscaping is included in the proposal.

Hampton Lovett Parish Council says it has no objection provided the buildings are needed for the running of the farm, as previous buildings have been converted.
