Pedigree pussies battle to be top cat

From the archive, first published Wednesday 25th Jan 2006.

QUALITY cats were preened and primed to win over the judges at a top cat show at the weekend.

Longhaired cats from all over the country descended on Nunnery Wood Sports Centre, Spetchley Road, Worcester, on Saturday. They were competing in the Central Longhaired Cat Club's prestigious annual show.

One professional puss, a Blue Persian called Prettypaws Boosy Boots, was named Grand Premier and UK Grand Champion. Other cats were on the hunt for top titles such as Imperial cat.

There were lots of kittens just starting out and stalls selling all sorts of feline treats. Other cats, including a Bengal, a breed that has the same fur pattern as a leopard, an unusual Abysinnian and a Singapura, from Worcester, were all at the show.
