Traders getting set for market

From the archive, first published Wednesday 25th Jan 2006.

STALLS are ready to be filled with an array of fresh produce at Alcester's monthly farmer's market.

About 10 stallholders will be returning for the first market of the year, to be held in Henley Street on Friday.

Farmers will be selling locally produced fresh vegetables, speciality breads and cakes, lamb and pork, duck, cheese, free range eggs, wine and beer.

Andy Mills, of Alcester Chamber of Trade and Commerce, said: "The number of visitors in December was excellent.

"January and February are traditionally quieter months for this type of market as some stallholders have no produce to bring due to its seasonal nature.

"To have so many re-booking at this time of year is very encouraging - but the market will always depend on its customers' support."

The market will be open 9am-2pm
