AMBITIOUS LIDO PLANS GO BEFORE COUNCIL

From the archive, first published Wednesday 25th Jan 2006.

PLANS for a 21st century lido in Droitwich were set to go under the spotlight at a full council meeting last night. Earlier in the day, the Worcester News was invited to view the final plans for the site and discuss them with project officers and Wychavon District Councillors. Councillors were set to vote on the proposals, which include a heated outdoor saltwater pool and two wet play areas at last night's meeting at the Council Chamber in Pershore. If plans are approved, work is expected to start in April, with a view to open to the public by August. The proposed transformation of the 60-year-old site, which closed five years ago, is estimated to cost in the region of £1,528,000. For more on last night's meeting see tomorrow's Worcester News.
